Mumbai to Malaysia: a short flight to a full holiday
For travellers in Mumbai, Malaysia is one of the simplest international breaks to organise. Flights to Kuala Lumpur leave from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and take around five and a half hours non-stop, and Malaysia is only two and a half hours ahead of India, so jet lag is minimal.
Our Mumbai departures combine Kuala Lumpur for skyline views and shopping, Genting Highlands for mountain air and theme parks, and Langkawi for beaches. Pick a short city break or the full seven day trip below.

Travel tips for Mumbai travellers
- Leave early for the airport, as Mumbai traffic is unpredictable, especially in the monsoon, and check your e-ticket for the terminal.
- Carry some Malaysian ringgit for markets, street stalls and small shops.
- Try laksa, satay and nasi lemak. Indian food is easy to find when you want something familiar.
- Book Langkawi water sports in advance, which usually works out cheaper.
- Keep half a day free for shopping in Bukit Bintang or on Langkawi.
- Pack light clothing and comfortable shoes, and cover shoulders and knees for Batu Caves and the National Mosque.
When to go and visa basics
Malaysia works all year. February to September is generally a good window for sightseeing, and for Langkawi beach days the first few months of the year tend to be the most settled. See our best time to visit guide, and book early for cheaper fares out of Mumbai.
Visa support is part of the seven day package, and Indian travellers have generally found the entry process quick and largely online. Rules change, so treat our Malaysia visa guide as general guidance and confirm current requirements on official Malaysian government channels before booking.
